Today, August 21, 2023 is National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day and to be discussing this is to recognize the tragedy within our nation. As the crisis of fentanyl overdose rages on, families directly impacted are coming together to spread awareness of the danger within our homes, schools, communities and country.
As someone who has lost a child to fentanyl, I am witnessing parents across the nation speaking out, taking action and channeling anger and love simultaneously to inform others. A shocking number of precious souls gone too soon has been a call to action to protect our kids. While supporting bereaved parents reeling from the news of an accidental fentanyl overdose, I must commend those who are galvanized on the front lines, speaking before congress and working tirelessly to prevent another senseless death.
So on this day we light a candle, say a prayer and remember our loved ones well.
