About – My Story
With every unforeseen turn life took, there was something deep inside that rose to the surface.
Resilience, determination and a powerful belief in possibilities eventually created a path forward.
Upon reflection, every success and sorrow over the course of a lifetime prepared me for what was to come – the unexpected and unimaginable loss of my son. The devastating reality took me to my knees and with a broken heart, I reached out… to God, to family and friends while earnestly seeking the support of other mothers who had experienced the same heartbreak.
There were many well-meaning groups offering grief support but repeatedly, I was turned away and the reasons were always the same; “find a local group” or “our groups are full but we can put you on a waiting list”. Knowing there were others across the nation having the same issues, we connected, got creative and started our own group – while we waited.
Leaning on and learning from those who have known the same heartache can be surprisingly comforting.
We weren’t meant to be alone in our sorrow and purpose can be found beyond the pain. The depth of our conversations created a friendship and heartfelt gratitude intermingled with tears and genuine smiles.
Faith demands we believe in something we cannot see. It takes a conscious choice to find healthy ways to continue living while still experiencing the inseparable bond with our loved one. We don’t move on… we carry them with us.
Working with the bereaved through grief ministry has created a strong resolve to share the powerful insights gained to help others find their way.
My commitment is to provide a place to tell stories, ask questions and work through grief where a waiting list does not exist.
